Announcing Exporting for Britain, a BExA collaboration with ITN Productions Industry News

BExA and ITN Productions Industry News are co-producing Exporting for Britain, a news-style programme raising awareness and understanding of the UK's export ambitions and challenges in a post-Brexit, pandemic-informed world.

Exporting for Britain will launch at the UK Trade & Export Finance Forum on 7th December 2021.

Exporting is vital to the UK economy. In 2019 the UK was the fifth largest exporter in the world and the value of exports equated to almost a third of GDP[1]. There is a national ambition to help UK businesses grow on the world stage by unlocking business potential to transform our export performance. The export market opportunity for the UK’s green sector alone is estimated to be worth up to £170 billion a year by 2030.[2]

Anchored by an ITN Productions Industry News presenter, Exporting for Britain explores the world of opportunity for UK exporters. The programme aims to help companies realise the benefits associated with export success and addresses the key barriers to achieving exporting potential in today’s world.

The programme will showcase success stories of UK exporters leading the charge, provide information on how businesses can improve export performance or take their first export steps and shine a spotlight on key industry opportunities and challenges including:

  • The impact of the UK’s departure from the EU
  • The road to post-pandemic recovery
  • International opportunities for trade
  • How trade policy will help fuel the future
  • Britain’s strength on the International market
  • Solutions for the future including sustainable trade
  • Career opportunities to inspire the next generation

Exporting for Britain will launch at the UK Trade and Export Finance Forum hosted by UK Export Finance (UKEF) on 7th December 2021. The programme will combine key sector interviews, news items and sponsored editorial profiles and will be supported by a communications campaign targeting BExA members and beyond.

Minister for Exports, Graham Stuart MP said: “Exporting for Britain provides a great opportunity for businesses to learn about the government support available to them as we build back better from the pandemic.

As the Department for International Trade continues to sign trade deals with markets around the world, UKEF’s support will help businesses across the UK access the finance they need to take advantage of new global opportunities”.

Geoffrey de Mowbray, Co-Chairman of British Exporters Association said: “We are excited to be working with ITN productions on this programme. There is a unique opportunity in the wake of Brexit and the Covid pandemic for UK exporters to expand their business into other markets. With increased support from government, organisations like BExA and vital peer-to-peer networks there is the potential for UK Plc to achieve something quite remarkable, not only aiding our post Covid recovery, but also driving a sustainable future through trade.

Nina Harrison-Bell, Head of ITN Productions Industry News said: “Were delighted to be partnering with the British Exporters Association to produce a programme which helps educate, support and connect UK businesses to grow on the world stage and be at the forefront of global trade.  We hope the programme will inspire businesses that dont currently export to do so and will provide information and support for those looking to improve their export performance.
